Yesterday we spent the day at Hong Kong Disneyland – our first Disney park outside the U.S. (Next stops Paris, Tokyo and Shanghai!) It was an easy ride on the MTR To Sunny Bay, the junction connecting the train to Disneyland.
A one day ticket cost HK$499, which sounds like a lot until you realize that translates to about US$65. It’s been a trip paying HK$9 for a bottle of water.
The park seemed quite familiar, many things similar to the other parks, and yet with a cultural adjustment. Much of the Legend of the Lion King was sung in English, and two of the characters sang in Chinese. Instead of a haunted mansion they have Mystic Manor, a playful take on magic, the sneakiness of companion animals and cultural treasures.
The flora is always a favorite part of our visit. Some of the flowers here in Hong Kong seem familiar and others are quite beautifully different. The humidity is likely wonderful for the flora, not so much for us humans.
